It's very disturbing to see water coming out of the shower drain when you flush the toilet. Yesterday, that happened. All of the toilets, shower and bathtub drains were backing up. There was water spouting up from the sewer access plug in the front yard. That meant the line between the sewer access and the street was clogger.

We went to Lowes and purchased a sewer snake, which used to clear the drain. The good news is that the drain was cleared. Some sewage overflowed into my front yard when I opened the sewer plug. That was a messy job. The bad news is that I could see a tree root down in the line. This is most likely what caused the blockage. We'll probably have to call a plumber to take care of the tree root in the sewer, but at least we can flush the toilets now.

It is a inescapable law of the universe that you will always need to run to the store in order to get something that you need to finish the job. I actually read the directions to install a ne bathroom faucet and drain in the second bathroom. I got the faucet installed fine, but I found out that the old water supply hoses were one inch too short for the new faucet. That really irked me. I ran to the store and got two longer hoses and finished installing the faucet.

After finishing the faucet, I started to work on the drain. I shortly found out that the new channel-lock pliers that I bought for removing the trap from under the sink can't be used. There are wide PVC pipes under the sink. I'll need to purchase a strap wrench in order to finish the job. At least the sink is still in working order. The new faucet is in place along with the old drain. I attached the stopper rod from the faucet to the old stopper so that it works. I'll have to finish that next weekend.
